1 Peter and the Dating of Revelation

Spread the love

The dating of Revelation is critical to a proper understanding of eschatology. The most popular view of the day is that Revelation was written late in the first century, under the emperor Domitian, who was supposedly persecuting the church. This is increasingly being challenged as non-historical. Nonetheless, take a look at this chart 1Pet-Rev which is a comparison between 1 Peter, that is acknowledged to have been written prior to AD 70,  and the book of Revelation.

For more on this, see my book Who Is This Babylon.

It is clear from the comparative chart that Peter is drawing from Revelation. This demands that Revelation was written prior to 1 Peter.

  1. Says on your page (1 Peter and the Dating of Revelation): “…take a look at this chart 1Pet-Rev which is a comparison between 1 Peter, that is acknowledged to have been written prior to AD 70, and the book of Revelation.”

Link to chart doesn’t seem to work.

Also, page says: “For more on this, see my book Who Is This Babylon.” I have the book, but I’m not seeing anything on this in there.

Where should I look for the best arguments for the early dating of revelation?–preferably something fairly succinct.

    Thanks,
    Mike
